JEAN-PHILIPPE JANOUEIX SCORES TWICE WITH 2005 WINES IN PARKER! |
|---|---|---|
Wow! What a sensational wine from such a humble terroir. Inky/purple to the rim, with fabulous, smoky, black raspberry, cassis, licorice, black truffles, and pain grillé aromas, this concentrated sleeper of the vintage is the creation of the young visionary, Jean-Philippe Janoueix. It should provide plenty of pleasure over the next 5-7 years.
The young, creative, talented Jean-Philippe Janoueix (who also makes the fabulous Confession and La Croix St.-Georges offerings as well as the previously cited Le Conseiller) produces this super-Bordeaux from a humble vineyard. A blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, this beauty boasts an inky/purple color as well as a sweet bouquet of incense, black raspberries, blackberries, coffee, and spice. Deep, supple, lush and opulent, it is a super effort for its pedigree and price (25-30 $). Consume it over the next 4-5 years.

Our earlier comment to the Croix-Mouton: "nicely integrated dark red fruit (cherry), mocha, with fresh acid and solid tannin in the long fruity-spicy finish A+" As to Le Conseiller we tasted the 2003 (first release from this Bordeux Supérieur) saying "will become great - now A".
