| RODE WIJN: met mate GOED VOOR HET HART dank zij RESVERATROL |

RED WINE consumed REASONABLY strengthens YOUR HEART thanks to RESVERATROL | ||

In recent years, we have seen studies which prove that a moderate consumption of red wine has positive effects on a person's health, and diminishes the risk of heart diseases. Moderate here means one to two glasses per day (0,25 L)
American scientists have now detected the substance which seems to be responsible for this positive effect: resveratrol. It stretches the life cycle of body cells. Resveratrol is a polyphenol which one encounters i.a. in grapes and in pinda nuts. The effect seems to be similar to that of a moderate 'hunger diet'. My cardiologist told me that last month. But, he said, "this is only a first serious test". The first tests have been carried out on ferments in laboratory conditions. And later also on animals, but then only worms and flies. Tests on mice are foreseen for mid-2006. And where do we find the "healthiest wine?" Simple answer: in regions with lots of sun and great variations in temperature, from season to season and from day to night. A trio of countries corresponds to these criteria: Chile, Argentina and southern Australia. Red wines from these countries contain more resveratrol than say wines from France, Germany or even Italy. |
