With many others, we have been saying for 10 or more years now, has been amply provezd in an international blind tasting of top Bordeaux 2001 wines. Organizer of the tasting was François Mauss of Bordeaux. Place to be: hotel - restaurant Laurent (see picture). Date: 29 June 2009. The tasting panel counted no less than 15 persons, 13 male and 2 female. They came from 5 different countries. The vintage was 2001, not sondiered top, but "better than expected at first". The tasting was severely controlled: a "huissier" (bailiff) saw to it that e.g. the labels and the years shown on the corks were the same, the temperature of the wines was measured and held between 16-18 ° Celsius, panel members had to write sown their notes on standard sheets, and finally, the Parker scoring system was used. All this was filmed, and a shortened version is to be found on http://www.youtube.com/ As one can see below, Angélus came out as a winner, with an average of 94/100. But then comes the surprise: second was a "simple" Bordeaux supérieur, by the name of Chateau Reignac. That wine was Nr. 10 in the tasting. Price: 14,91 Euro!! That is 10 tot 100 times less than its competitors... Note also that Parker had given long before a note of 100/100!
