Al jaren volgen we de "festivals" en "feestwijnen" van de supermarkten op. Overigens, al gemerkt dat beide termen steeds meer dooreen worden gebruikt, en dat men er steeds vroeger aan begint - zo vanaf begin september? Ook hier dus het Sinterklaaseffect!
Aldi is daarbij een "uitpakker", bij voorbeeld met een Brunello di Montalcino tegen nooit geziene prijzen. Ook dit jaar is die er weer, en waar vroeger de kwaliteit bedroevend was, moeten we dit keer iets positiever zijn (zie onze rode wijnen).
Steeds was het zo dat het aanbod in WIT minder hoge ogen gooide dan het ROOD. We hebben uit het aanbod van 20 wijnen een selectie van 10 gemaakt. En onze indruk is inderdaad dezelfde, maar met één nuance: globaal genomen is de kwaliteit behoorlijk tot heel goed, zonder uitschieters naar beneden (geen B-)!
En de prijzen zijn, zoals steeds, aantrekkelijk...

We've been following the evolution of so-called "wine festivals" and "festive wines" in Belgian supermarkets for many years now. By the way: the two terms seem to become more and more interchangeable.
One of the frontrunners is Aldi supermarket - although they have been bypassed this year by Delhaize, who started early September.
But then, they still have a "crown jewel": a Brunello di Montalcino for about 12 €!! Until last year, the quality was deplorable. This year, however, they come up with a somewhat better wine - see our RED section.
We tasted 10 out of 20 wines. The conclusion is twofold:
1. The quality is failry constant, from good to excellent

Dit bevestigt de kwaliteit van Rhonewijn in 2009! Veel beter dan eerdere versies van deze nobele onbekende. Kan nog tot 2015 mee. Grens A+/AA |

Dat Côtes du Rhône Villages uit het grote jaar 2007 zo'n klasse kan bieden weten we intussen. Deze blend van Grenache, Syrah, Carignan heeft het allemaal: donker fruit, fijne zuren, dragende tannines. Mag naast grote Chateauneuf staan. |
