VOLLMER VALLE DE UCO MERLOT 2008 - Argentina -
2008

Voor het oog:
paarsrood, weinig levendige kleur
To the eye:
purplish non-vivid red

Aan de neus:
delikate neus met wat kersenfruit en kersenpit, licht kruidig ook
At the nose:
delicate nose with some cherry and cherry kernel, also lightly spicy

In de mond:
eveneens lichtfruitige aanzet, wat vlak in het midden zij het met presente zuren; ook flink wat tannines in de licht uitdrogende finale
In the mouth:
equally light fruity onset, thinning out on mid-palate with however good acid; still quite some tannin and lightly drying out in the finish

Conclusie
Alleen de neus doet denken aan Merlot, want in de mond is de wijn iets te dun en krijgen het zuur en de tannines onvoldoende fruitig weerwerk. Tussen B en B+

Conclusion
Only the nose reminds us of Merlot, the palate being rather thin, with acid and tannin that are not countered with good ripe fruit. Between B and B+

Voor het oog:
aantrekkelijk paarsgetint kersenrood, behoorlijk geconcentreerd
To the eye:
attractive purplish cherry, moderately concentrated

Aan de neus:
zachte diepfruitige neus met donkerrood fruit (kers, braam), toets granietsteen, munt en ook wat leder
At the nose:
mellow deepfruity nose with dark red fruit (cherry, blackberry), a touch of granite, mint and also leather

In de mond:
even zachte rijpfruitige aanzet (donkere kers en vlier) spoedig aangevuld door rokerig-kruidige impressies, dit alles gedragen door goede zuren. Elegante halflange afdronk met donkerrood fruit in de retro
In the mouth:
equally soft ripe fruity onset (dark cherry, elderberry) soon complemented with smoky and spicy touch, sitting above fine supportive acid. Elegant semilong finish with dark red fruit in the retronasal phase

Conclusie
Een zoetgevooisde Malbec met fijn donkerrood fruit, goede zuren en lichte kruidigheid: anders dan we van die druif gewoon zijn. Goede kwaliteit voor kleine prijs

Conclusion
Mellowtoned elegant Malbec with lots of fine dark red fruit, good acid and light spices: different from what we normally expect from that grape. Good quality for small price

geconcentreerd donkerrood kers-tot-robijn met paarse rand, stevig tranend
To the eye:
concentrated dark red cherry-to-ruby with purplish rim, thick legs

Aan de neus:
mooi gemengde neus van donkerrood fruit (kers, braam, vlier) en fijne kruiden (thijm, peper), en zachte eiktoets
At the nose:
nicely mixed nose of dark red fruit (cherry, black- and elderberry) and fine spices (pepper, thyme), plus soft oak

In de mond:
volrijpe en boterzachte aanzet met verder zoethout, vers gebrande koffie en donkere chocolade, dit alles gedragen door fijne zuren en zijdige tannines; zalige lange donkerfruitige afdronk
In the mouth:
full ripe and creamy onset, complemented by licorice, freshly toasted coffee and dark chocolate - all of this being packed in fine acid and silky tannin; heavenly long dark fruity finish

Conclusie
Zoals we hem al tien jaar kennen: grootse verfijnde volfruitige fijnzurige en zacht kruidige en toch ook stevige Malbec - absolute klasse. Silver Medal International Wine Challenge 08 Zilveren Medaille Intern. Wine Challenge 08

Conclusion
As we have known it for nearly ten years now: very refined full fruity, freshly acid and soft spicy yet also solid Malbec: classy wine! Silver Medal International Wine Challenge 08

moderately concentrated young cherry, shows legs

Aan de neus:
aantrekkelijke neus met enerzijds kers en donkere rode bessen en anderzijds ook leder en kruiden (laurier)
At the nose:
seductive nose with on the one side cherry and dark red berries and on the other spices (laurel) and leather

In de mond:
zachtfruitige en tegelijk friszurige aanzet op een bedje van zachte tannines en lichte kruiden; fris bessenfruit in de elegante halflange afdronk
In the mouth:
mellow fruity and at the same time freshly acid onset on a bed of silky tannin and light spices; fresh berry fruit in the elegant fairly long finish

Conclusie
Een weinig voorkomende maar mooie "fusion" tussen rijp fris rood fruit enenrzijds en lichte kruiden en zachte tannines anderzijds. Goed gemaakt. Zuccardi heeft een hele reeks populaire Fuzions. En zie de prijs!

Conclusion
A rare "fusion" or blend between ripe fresh red fruit on the one hand and spices and soft tannin on the other. Well made. The Zuccardi bodega has a whole range of "Fuzions"

We hadden hem bij gebakken graankip met curryrijst: heel goed! Verder pastagerechten of quiche of pizza met kaas, groenten en ham; romige kazen
Drink with:
We had it with baked natural grain chicken plus curry rice: quite good! Further pasta dishes, quich or pizza with cheese, vegetables and ham and creamy cheeses

ook in de mond donkerrood fruit met weer vlier en ook donkere pruim, licht floraal ook met vanilletoets; voldoende goede zuren, goede tannines en een vrij lange fluwelige afdronk

in the mouth too we get dark red fruit with again elderberry and dark plums, lightly floral with touch vanilla; enough acid and silky tannin in the long soft fruity finish

Conclusie
De Italiaanse druif Bonarda die bekend staat als "licht fijnfruitig" toont zich hier langs een andere zijde: donkerrood fruit, bloemetjes en zijdige tannines

Conclusion
Italian Bonarda grape, known for its mellow fruitiness reveals here a darker side with dark berryfruit, violets and silky tannin

mooi gemengde neus met donkerrood fruit (pruim, braam), met duidelijke maar zachte eiktoets, rode rozen en kruiden (laurier)
At the nose:
nicely mixed nose of dark red fruit (plums, blackberry), with clear but mellow oak touch, old roses and spices (laurel)

In de mond:
even rijk smaakpatroon met weer al het rode fruit, kruiden en licht getoaste eik, ingepakt in frisse zuren; lange beklijvende donkerfruitige afdronk met ook mineralen
In the mouth:
equally wealthy palate with again all the dark red fruit, spices and lightly toasted oak, packed in fresh acid; long impressive dark fruity finish, with also minerals

Conclusie
Opnieuw een grote klasse Malbec die alle kwaliteiten van Argentijnse "bergwijn" vertoont: naast het donkerrood fruit ook bloemigheid, toast, kruiden en zelfs mineralen. Kan nog meerdere jaren mee

Conclusion
Again a high class Argentinian "mountain" Malbec: next to the dark red fruit, we get floral, spicy and even mineral impressions, plus toasty oak. Will last through 2013-4

laat de kruidige herfst- en winterschotels maar komen! Ook chile con carne en kruidige pasta's, of ook harde (blaugeaderde) kaas
