ARGENTINA: kwaliteit én laag geprijsd.

Wie er ooit was, en zeker in het gebied tussen Mendoza en Salta, draagt de betovering mee van schitterende landschappen, gastvrije mensen, het beste rundsvlees ter wereld, de meeslepende en vaak melancholische muziek, én, no por ultimo, de wijnen. Niet voor niets staat het land qua wijnproductie op wereldrang 4, maar het scoort steeds hoger in internatonale beurzen en proeverijen. Bij ons is Argentijns vooral bekend geworden dank zij Ad Bibendum (Norton, Pulenta!), wat klasse is voor (redelijk) hoge prijs. Maar ook onderaan de prijsladder vind je goede tot zelfs verbazende witte (Torrontes!) en rode (Malbec!) wijnen. We proefden er een 12-tal, en presenteren eerst wit.

ARGENTINA: quality for a small price

Ever been to the country, and especially the North-West between Mendoza and Salta? Bewildering landscapes, hospitable people, the best beef in the world, enchanting and often melancholic music, and, last but not least, the white (Torrontes!) and red (Malbec!) wines. The production of wine is high and rising (Rank 4 or 5 in the world), and, due to climate, soil and elevation, the quality follows suit! We tasted about 12 lowly priced wines. To the eye:
clear lemon-to-gold with greenish reflections
Aan de neus:
een typische Chardonnayneus: romig, exotisch fruit(mango), bloemige toets
At the nose:
typical Charonnay nose: exotic fruit (mango), cream, slightly floral
In de mond:
opnieuw exotisch fruit en romigheid met goede zuren en een licht bittertje in de rijpfruitige en toch frisse afdronk
In the mouth:
fagain exotic fruit and cream with good acid and a light bitter touch in the fruity yet elegant finish
Conclusie
Mooie volrijpe en toch frisse Chardonnay, in de stijl van het huis		   Conclusion

bovenal een verfrissende aperitiefwijn, ook goed bij jonge romige geitenkaas, zoals we bij herhaling konden vaststellen

clear pale yellow, greenish reflection
Aan de neus:
diepfruitige neus met mango, ananas, pompelmoes, citrus en mineralen
At the nose:
deep fruity nose with mango, pineapple, grapefruit, citrus and minerals
In de mond:
heel sappige aanzet met fijn rijp geel fruit, appel en gedragen door goede zuren en een mooi bittertje in de lange finale
In the mouth:
very juicy onset with fine ripe yellow fruit, apple also, sitting upon fine acid and with a nice bitter touch in the pleasant long finish
Conclusie
Een door en door fruitige maar ook frisse smaakmaker: een lieflijke Tangodanser. Je merkt dat Chenin hier een hoofdrol speelt		   Conclusion
A full juicy but also fresh tasty white: a lovely Tango dancer! One notices the dominant presence of Chenin

To the eye:
clear pale straw with greenish reflections
Aan de neus:
exuberante exotisch fruitige neus met lichees, gele perzik en citrusfruit, en ook duidelijke muscaattoon
At the nose:
exuberant exotic nose with lichees, yellow peach, citrus fruit and clearly also muscaty tones
In de mond:
even complexe diepfruitige smaak met vooral pompelmoes, tegelijk romig, gelukkig ondersteund door goede zuren en een licht kruidig bittertje in de aangename halflange afdronk
In the mouth:
equally complex deep fruity taste with grapefruit up front, creamy as well, and luckily supported by fine acid and a light bitter touch in the pleasant semilong finish
Conclusie
Torrontes van het diepfruitige exotische type: een gemuscateerd geel fruitbommetje getemd door goed zuur. En zie de prijs!		   Conclusion

MICHEL TORINO TORRONTES CHALAQUY VALLE 2008 - Argentina - Mendoza

zeer helder bleekgeel met mooie schittering
To the eye:
very clear pale yellow with nice mirror
Aan de neus:
weelderige maar ingehouden neus met rijp wit (peer, perzik, mirabelle) en geel (mango) fruit, citrus, boter, en heel duidelijk ook luscaattoon
At the nose:
wealthy yet somewhat restrained nose of ripe white and yallow fruit - pear, peach, plums, mango - plus citrus, cream, and clearly also muscaty tones
In de mond:
heel mondvullende smaak met rijp geel fruit, ingebed in heel fijne zuren en met een mooie bittertoets in de zalige lange afdronk
In the mouth:
quite mouthfilling taste with lots of ripe yellow fruit, embedded in very fine acid and with a nice bitter touch in the heavenly long finish
Conclusie
Zoals voorheen: Top Torrontes met alles erop en eraan: diepgeel fruit, muscaat, fijne zuren en een mooi bittertje. Je merkt dat de druiven op grote hoogte (tot 1800 m!) zijn gerijpt. Heel mooi voor die prijs		   Conclusion
Top class Torrontes as we have known it for years: deep yellow fruit, muscat, refined acid an nice bitter tones. One notices that the grapes have ripened on a high mountain plateau. Very good price/quality relationship
Drink bij:
We hadden hem zowel als puur aperitief als bij curry rijstschotel en Thaise rijstschotel: telkens heel goed
Drink with:
We had it both as pure aperitif and with Indian and Thai curry rice dish: went very well each time!
