Wie er ooit was, en zeker in het gebied tussen Mendoza en Salta,
draagt de betovering mee van schitterende landschappen, gastvrije mensen, het beste rundsvlees ter wereld, de meeslepende en vaak melancholische muziek, én, no por ultimo, de wijnen. Niet voor niets staat het land qua wijnproductie op wereldrang 4, en het scoort steeds hoger in internatonale beurzen en proeverijen. Bij ons is Argentijns vooral bekend geworden dank zij Ad Bibendum zo eind de jaren '80. Eerst kwamen ze met Norton en Pulenta(!),
nu
met heel interessante "Circus" Sauvignon Blanc
en Malbec. En, die laatste voor nog geen 5 Euro.(adbibendum.be)
Maar ook de warenhuizen hebben Argentina ontdekt.
Hiernaast een kaart met de wijnregio's. De kaart is klein, het hele
gebied strekt zich uit over 1500 km! Voornaamste regio: Mendoza, dat 150.000 ha wijngaarden omvat, onderverdeeld in weer 5 regio's. De wijnbouw is er gestart door pioniers die uit Europa - vooral Italië en Duitsland - kwamen. Sedert begin de '90er jaren zijn grote wijnhuizen én firma's
uit de hele wereld er neergestreken.Twee voorbeelden: Domaines François Lurton en het Portugese Sogrape dat o.m. Finca Flichman overnam. De wijnbouwstrategie kan je Italiaans noemen: kwaliteitsvolle massaproductie van vooral monocépages. Aan de top staan druivensoorten als Torrontes en Chardonnay voor wit, en
(vooral) Malbec en Cabernet voor rood.

Aan de neus:
aantrekkelijke neus met zowel witte bloemen als kruisbes, passievrucht en een lichte muskaattoon At the nose:
attractive nose with both floral tones (white lilies) and fruit (gooseberry, passion fruit) and also a touch of muscat

aangename rijpfruitige aanzet met weer passievrucht en gemuskateerd geel fruit, ingepakt in erg frisse zuren en met een vegetale toets in de halflange elegante afdronk In the mouth:

weelderige maar ingehouden neus met rijp wit (peer, perzik, mirabelle) en geel (mango) fruit, citrus, boter, en heel duidelijk ook muscaattoon At the nose:
wealthy yet somewhat restrained nose of ripe white and yallow fruit - pear, peach, plums, mango - plus citrus, cream, and clearly also muscaty tones

heel mondvullende smaak met rijp geel fruit, ingebed in heel fijne zuren en met een mooie bittertoets in de zalige lange afdronk In the mouth:
quite mouthfilling taste with lots of ripe yellow fruit, embedded in very fine acid and with a nice bitter touch in the heavenly long finish

Zoals voorheen: klasse Torrontes: diepgeel fruit, muscaat, fijne zuren en een mooi bittertje. Je merkt dat de druiven op grote hoogte (tot 1800 m!) zijn gerijpt. Heel mooi voor die prijs

boterig in de aanzet met ook matig gerookte eik en rijp exotish fruit At the nose:

mooi gevulde smaakaanzet met weer die boterigheid en de getoaste eiktoetsen, daarnaast ook veel rijp geel fruit ingepakt in voldoende zuren; lange afdronk met mooie bitter-zuurbalans In the mouth:
well-filled palate with again butter and toasty oak, followed by ripe yellow fruit packed in good acid; long finish with a nice bitter-sour balance
Conclusie
Stevige knaap, deze geëikte chardonnay die voldoende rijp fruit, kruiden en goed zuur aan boord heeft. Kan nog 3-4 jaar mee.
Conclusion
as the name tells us, this is a solid oaky chardonnay, yet with enough ripe yellow fruit, spices and good acid to stay in balance. Will last through 2013

stevige smaakaanzet met weer het rijpe fruit aangevuld door minerale tonen en ingebed in verfijnde zuren; lange elegante afdronk In the mouth:
solid onset with again the ripe exotic fruit plus mineral tones, all this embedded in refined acid; long elegant finish
Conclusie
Zoals we dit al vele jaren lang mochten ervaren: tegelijk verfijnde rijpfruitige en friszurige maar ook goed gevulde chardonnay. Doet de naam reserva alle eer aan!
