Rode Corbières en Minervois 2008: even proeven

Met het Testaankoop-panel hebben we recent 21 rode wijnen uit het superrmarktaanbod van Corbières en Minervois geproefd. De slotindruk was tweevoudig:

1) het merendeel van de wijnen viel tegen, want te hard, te zurig, te tanninerijk en duidelijk met te weinig fruit.

2) Een aantal wijnen - en raar maar waar, niet de duurste - vielen op door hun mooie vulling: veel fruit, goede zuren, zijdige tannines.

RodRRed Corbières and Minervois 2008: a tasting

We recently tasted a number of 21 red wines from Cobières and Minervois in the Languedoc region, which we can find in Belgian supermarkets.

Conclusion of our panel: about two thirds of the wines were harsh, tannic and/or acidic. On the other hoand there was a number of good-to-excellent well-structured wines, with lots of fruit and silky tannin.

CHATEAU ARTIX LES MURAILLES MINERVOIS 2008 - France - Minervois
2008
Voor het oog:
helder donker kersenrood met paarse rand, wijn kleurt het glas
To the eye:
clear dark cherry with purplish rim, wine taints glass
Aan de neus:
een waaier van geuren: donkere kers, pruim, vlier, cassis, duidelijk ook garriguekruiden met houttoets en rokerigheid
At the nose:
a panoply of flavours: dark cherry, plums, elderberry, cassis, spices and herbs, touch of wood and toast
In de mond:
even rijke smaak: zowel kruidige als donkerfruitige aanzet, een ware mond vol, met toch ook goede zuren en stevige maar niet-aggressieve tannines; lange krachtige donkerfruitige afdronk
In the mouth:
dark fruity and spicy onset, a mouth full of juicy flavours, tamed by enough good acid and embedded in solid yet non-aggressive tannin; long zesty darkfruity finish
Conclusie
Ongelooflijk weelderige, donkerfruitige, frisse en tegelijk krachtige Minervois. Wordt straks nog beter! Grens A+/AA. En zie die prijs! En ook de 2009 is zeer goed!		   Conclusion
Incredibly wealthy, dark fruity yet also fresh and powerful Minervois. Will even get better. Limit A+/AA. And lo and see the price. The 2009 is excellent as well!

CHATEAU DE VAUGELAS LE PRIEURÉ COBIERES 2008 - France - Corbières
2008
Voor het oog:
diep robijnrood met lichte sluier (geen probleem, blijkbaar ongefilterd), traant stevig
To the eye:
deep dark ruby slightly hazed (no problem), solid legs
Aan de neus:
mooi gemengde neus met braam- en bosbes, pruim en thijm en rozemarijn
At the nose:
nicely mixed nose with black- and blueberry, plums and thyme plus rosemary
In de mond:
soepele en sappige aanzet met weer het donkerrode fruit, ingebed in fijne zuren en behoorlijk stevige tannines; stevige donkerfruitige, ook licht uitdrogende finale
In the mouth:
supple and juicy with all the small dark red fruit smelled before, embedded in fine acid and solid tanni; fairly long dark fruity finish, slighty drying out
Conclusie
tegelijke soepele en fruitige maar ook soliede en frisse Corbières. Nu licht uitdrogend, maa zal zachter worden na enkele jaren		   Conclusion
both supple and fruity, yet alos solid and fresh Corbières. Will smoothen within the next 2-3 years

CHATEAU VILLERAMBERT MOUREAU MINERVOIS 2009 - France - Minervois
2009
Voor het oog:
diep paarsrood, stevig tranend
To the eye:
deep purplish red, viscous
Aan de neus:
aantrekkelijke neus met enerzijds klein donkerrood fruit (braam- en bosbes, vlier) en anderzijds garriguekruiden en duidelijk ook vanille
At the nose:
attractive nose with, on the one hand small dark red fruit (black- and blueberry, elderberry), and on the other, spices and clearly also vanilla
In de mond:
sappige frisfruitige aanzet met goede vulling, gedagen door fijn zuur en stevige tannines; vrij lange fruitig-kruidige afdronk
In the mouth:
juicy fresh fruity onset, lots of matter on mid-palate supported by fine acid and solid tannin; fairly long fruity-spicy finish
Conclusie
Mooi getypeerde Minervois: het rijpe donkerrode fruit wordt ingebed in fijne kruiden en stevige maar niet agressieve tannine. Kan nog 3-4 jaar mee. En dat voor deze prijs!		   Conclusion
Well-typified Minervois: the dark red fruit is packed in good acid and tangy yet non-aggressive tannin. Will last through 2013-4. And look at the price!

Een echte pepersteakwijn, ook goed bij pastagerechten met tomatensaus gekruid met oregano en basilicum
Drink with:
A true peppersteak wine, also good with wasta dishes with tomato sauce spiced with oregano and basil

Varia:
In Minervois moet de AOC-wijn minstens 40% Carignan bevatten. En deze druif paart grote fruitigheid aan een zekere fraicheur. Duidelijk herkenbaar in deze wijn. Minervois legally contains at least 40% Carignan,grape which stands for fresh deep fruitiness

ROQUE SESTIÈRE à L'ORÉE DES PINS CORBIÈRES 2008 - France - Corbières
2008
Voor het oog:
diep robijnrood met mooie spiegel, heel stevig tranend
To the eye:
deep ruby with nice mirror, quite thick legs
Aan de neus:
mooi gemengde neus met garriguekruiden, bosfruit, vanille en duidelijke rokerige toets
At the nose:
nicely mixed nose of thyme and rosemary, red fruit from the woods, vanilla and a clear smoky touch
In de mond:
diepfruitige mondvullende aanzet met weer het donkerrode fruit, gedragen door goed zuur en stevige maar niet-aggressieve tannines; vrij lange diepfruitige en kruidige afdronk
In the mouth:
deep fruity mouthfilling onset with again the dark red fruit, complemented with fine acid and tasty yet non-aggressive tannin; failry long deep fruity and spicy finish
Conclusie
In tegenstelling tot heelwat harde Corbières, is dit een voldragen, diepfruitige, goed gestructureerde en toch ook frisse wijn. Grens A+/AA		   Conclusion
In contrast to quite some harsh astringent Corbières, this is a well-structured deep fruity yet also fresh wine! Limit A+/AA

een wijn die veel gerechten aankan: van steak over gegrilde hoevekip met gefriteerde aardappelen tot pizza en halfharde kazen
Drink with:
a wine for many types of dishes: from steak over grilled farm chicken with fried potatoes to semihard cheeses
