O'COOL: MEER DAN DIEPVRIES!      BESIDES DEEP FREEZE: A FINE WINE CORNER!

Zoals bovenstaande foto laat zien hebben O'Cool supermarkten niet alleen een grote reeks van diepvriesproducten,
maar ook een WIJNCORNER en zelfs een BIERCORNER met GROTE flessen Hoge gistingsbieren.
Wij proefden al bij herhaling enkele wijnen, en nu namen we een staal van in totaal 13 wijnen.
Daaronder was een reeks van 5 BOYAR-wijnen die we apart bespraken: zie deze link

Globbal genomen waren we verrast door de kwaliteit-prijs verhouding: zelden hebben we bij een supermarkt
zoiets gezien. Zie onze proefnotities hieronder

ANTARES SAUVIGNON BLANC 2010 CHILE - Valle Colchagua -
2010
Voor het oog:
helder bleekgeel met lichtgroene schijn
To the eye:
clear pale yellow, light green taint
Aan de neus:
typisch Sauvignon Blanc: delikaat fijn fruit (kruisbes, witte perzik), passievrucht, asperges en witte bloemen
At the nose:
typical SB: delicat small fine fruit (gooseberry, white peach), passio, fruit, asparragus and white flowers
In de mond:
tintelend wit fruit met weer kruisbes en perzik, ingepakt in heel frisse zuren en met een mooi bittertje in de vrij lange afdronk
In the mouth:
titillating fine fruit (gooseberry, peach), cloaked in quite fine acid and with a nice bitter touch in the fairly long finish
Conclusie
Raszuivere Sauvignon Blanc met sappig wit fruit, floraal ook, met verfijnde zuren en een lichte bittertoets. Antares is nieuwe reeks bij het bekende Santa Carolina		   Conclusion
Racy Sauvignon Blanc with juicy fine white fruit, floral as well, sitting on a bed of fine acid and with a nice bitter touch in the semilong finish. Antares is new series in the renowned bodega Santa Carolina

very clear pale yellow with greenish reflections

fruitige neus met rijpe appel en perzik, en een mooie florale toets
At the nose:
fruity nose with ripe apple and peach, plus a nice floral touch
In de mond:
volfruitige aanzet (Kaapse appel) met frisse zuren en vooral ook een mooie bittertoets in de halflange afdronk
In the mouth:
full fruity onset (Cape apple) with quite fresh acid and especially a zesty bitter touch in the semilong finish
Conclusie
zomerse blend van witfruitige Chenin met meer exotische en kruidige Chardonnay.		   Conclusion
sunny summerlike blend of white fruity Chenin with exotic limy and spicy Chardonnay

fijnfruitige neus met zowel appel als gele pruim, perzik en pompelmoes - een hele fruitmand!
At the nose:
fine fruity nose with both apple, peach, yellow plum and grapefruit - a basket full!
In de mond:
goed schuimende aanzet met weer al dat fijne fruit ingepakt in tintelende zuren en met een mooi licht bittertje in de lange fijnfruitige licht zoete afdronk
In the mouth:
rich foam with again all the fine fruit smelled before, embedded in titillating acid and with a nice bitter touch in the long finefruity and slightly sweet finish
Conclusie
Dat Prosecco aan een opmars bezig is, en vaak "spumante" doet vergeten, wordt hier weer duidelijk: heel verfijnde, zowel fijnfruitige als tintelend frisse schuimwijn - een sprankelende zomerwijn!		   Conclusion
Prosecco is up and coming - compared against lots of Spumante - and this is proved here: very refined both fine fruity and titillating fresh sparkling - a festive summer wine!

TIERRE BERBERANA DRAGON VIURA-SAUVIGNON BLANC 2009 ESPANA - España -
2009
Voor het oog:
helder stro- tot citroengeel, glanzende spiegel
To the eye:
clear straw-to-lemon, shining mirror
Aan de neus:
wat gesloten, daarna rijp wit en exotisch fruit, kruiden en florale toets
At the nose:
a bit closed at first, then ripe white and exotic fruit, spices and a floral touch
In de mond:
redelijk mollig in de aanzet, met wat rijpe perzik, daarna naast de zuren ook bittertonen en licht uitdrogend in finale
In the mouth:
fairly creamy onset with ripe peach, just enough acid and also bitter tones in the finish which is slightly drying out
Conclusie
Duidelijke dominantie van de Viura met, naast het rijpe fruit, ook goede florale en kruidige bittertonen (Chardonnay); voldoende zuur, maar wat uitvlakkend in de halflange finale. Grens B+/A		   Conclusion
Clear dominance of Viura with, next to the ripe white fruit also floral bitter tones and enough acidity, yet somewhat flattening out in the semilong finish Hesitation B+/A

TIERRE BERBERANA DRAGON TEMPRANILLO – SHIRAZ 2009 - España -
2009

To the eye:
dark ruby, quite concentrated
Aan de neus:
zeer complexe neus met donkerrood fruit (kers, vlierbes, bosbes), getoaste eik, vanille
At the nose:
very complex nose with small dark red fruit (cherry, elderberry, blueberry), toasted oak, vanilla
In de mond:
zeer sappige volfruitige aanzet gaandeweg evoluerend naar een meer vlezige structuur met dragende zuren en zijdeachtige tannines; ellenlange donkerfruitige en licht kruidige afdronk. Vlier in de retro
In the mouth:
very juicy darkfruity onset, evolving to a more meaty structure, cloaked in supportive acid and silky tannin; very long dark fruity and lightly spicy finish. Elderberry in retronasal phase
Conclusie
Verrassende schitterend uitgevallen blend tussen de traditionele tempranillo met zijn kersenfruitige tonen en de shiraz-druif met structuur en vlezige kruidigheid. Een laaggeprijsd juweeltje van een in alle opzichten grote Rioja-bodega. Nog 8-9 jaar!		   Conclusion
Surprising but breathtaking blend between traditional cherrylike Tempranillo and Shiraz which gives the wine more structure and meaty spiciness. A jewel from a great Rioja-bodega. Will last through 2020
Drink bij:
Laat de kruidige wildschotels, stoofpotjes en krachtige harde kazen maar komen: de "dragon" kan ze best aan!
Drink with:
Let the spicy stews and game dishes come, as well as hard cheeses: this "dragon" takes them all on!

To the eye:
clear ruby, moderately concentrated, rich viscosity (legs)
Aan de neus:
weelderige neus met donkere kers, zoethout, viooltjes, bosfruit, licht getoaste eik
At the nose:
sumptuous nose with dark cherry, licorice, violets, blackberry, lightly toasted smoky oak
In de mond:
sappige rijpfruitige aanzet met veel donkere kers, ingebed in een soepele structuur van goede zuren en zachte tannines; lange fijfruitige afdronk
In the mouth:
juicy finefruity onset with lots of ripe cherry, cloaked in well-structured acid and silky tannin; long finefruity finish
Conclusie
Een zuiderse, zowel elegante als mondvullende Carmener, fijnzinnig en soepel over de tong gaand. Kan nog 2-3 jaar mee		   Conclusion
A southern both elegant and mouth filling Carmener, finetuned and souple. Will last through 2015

transparent moderately concentrated cherry with purplisch taint, still young

elegante neus van rijp kleinrood fruit (kers, vlier) met licht getoaste eik
At the nose:
elegant nose of ripe small red fruit (cherry, elderberry) with a clear toasty touch (oak)
In de mond:
heel sapige aanzet, evoluerend naar een vleziger midden, ingepakt in frisse zuren en zachte maar dragende tannines; heel lange fijnfruitige afdronk
In the mouth:
very juicy onset evolving to a more meaty mid-palate, packed in fine acid and silky complementaru tannin; very long fine fruity finish
Conclusie
Het "witte" huis Casal Branco, dat 600 ha beheert, brengt hier een originele blend van de fijnfruitige Castelao-druif met de meer kruidige en vlezige Syrah: volfruitig, licht rokerig, fris en zijdig. Heel mooi voor de prijs		   Conclusion
The Casal Branco (White house!) winery, with 600 ha of vineyards, presents this original blend of the fine fruity Castelao-grape with the more spicy and meaty Syrah: full fruity, lightly toasted, fresh and silky. Very nice for the price
Drink bij:
Eigenlijk kan deze wijn ook op zichzelf genoten worden. Verder gegrild rood vlees (zoals ribbetjes), pasta bolognese, halfharde kazen
Drink with:
Can be enjoyed on and by itself. Further grilled red eat (like spareribs), pasta bolognese, semi-hard cheeses
